Lesson 6 – B : Excel Trace formula

Lesson 6 – B : Trace formula : We will take small jump to the auditing formula section , you may say that it is too early to go to audit section but we will talk about one point that would help us to understand functions , which is trace formula (function) . It is Display the relationships between formulas and cells and showing arrows that indicate the cells that affected the selected cells or affected by selected cells. Trace formula consists of 3 things: Trace Precedents: Show arrows that indicates what cells affect the value of the currently selected cells and it requires the active cell contain a formula which includes valid references Trace Dependents Show arrows that indicates what affect by the value of the currently selected cells Remove Arrows: to remove arrows dawn by Trace Precedents and Trace Dependents we will use tracing to help us to clarify the function in coming lessons .

Lesson 8 :Excel Auto fill

Lesson 8 :Auto fill ; It allows you to quickly fill data , we can use it to repeat date in one cell to another cell(s) Or we can to quickly fill data in a series The Figure below illustrate what will happen when you write number ‘1’ in cell ‘a1’ and click and drag The black cross on the bottom right corner of that cell to cell ‘a7’ . We will find the the value ‘1’ repeated in from cell A1 to A7 . For example we can use Auto fill to fill series like months, days of the week, or a numeric series or You can teach Excel to Auto fill other text series Excel knows how to Autofill months (January or Jan) and days of the week (Monday or Mon).If we write “Jan” in cell a1 and click and drag to cell a12 Excel You can teach Excel to Auto fill other text series. First, click on the Office Button and choose “Excel Options” in the lower right corner of the menu. In the “Popular” category (the one that appears automatically), click on “Edit Custom Li

Auto fill Excel function’s: (Lesson 20 ) :

As we discussed before in lesson 8 we can auto fill cells with data by click and drag cells . we also can auto fill functions by the same way click and drag we will take a very simple example to illustrate this lesson .the figure below show us sequence in column A from cell A1 to A10 in cell B1 we will write a formula which is =a1 Then we will drag like we did before from the black cross at the right bottom of cell the figure below show the result after we drag the function The formula will be copied to the selected cells but there number of row changing in the dragging process ,when we copy formula to cell b2 the no. Of row changing in the formula to be 2 we used trace formula to illustrate the result
